A Modern Medical Miracle

(Jean Daniel Slabbert) #1

Hello RZIM Connect Family,

I’m not sure whether this is allowed and my apologies if it is not. But I cannot contain my testimony of God’s saving and healing grace. I wish to share this with you all to His glory.

In short, I was completely blind and paralyzed less than four years ago with no medical certainty of ever seeing or walking again due to a rare auto-immune condition. But God had other plans…

I have been provided the opportunity recently to share my testimony on South African television and my medical aid/insurance, Discovery Health, conducted an interview with me and shared the article on their website and social media pages. Please see the YouTube, Website, Facebook and Twitter links below should you wish to see the full stories and feel free to share this with whomever you wish to.

I am forever grateful to the Lord for what He’s done in my life! I hope to bring glory to His Name through my testimony. And now, nearly four years later, my wife and I are expecting our first little boy, JC, in the next two weeks :grinning:.

Psalm 40:1-3 New International Version (NIV)

1 I waited patiently for the LORD;
he turned to me and heard my cry.
2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.
3 He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear the LORD
and put their trust in him.

@Jean What a wonderful testimony! May your son be healthy, wise and strong from his youth and seek the Lord all the days of his life.

GOD, always redefining normal! May we always remember that the true limits can only be set by GOD!

@Jean, Thanks so much for sharing this miracle of God. I will have to etch to my memory what you shared about ‘How’ not ‘Why’ of suffering that gives purpose. Amazing to see God’s blessing as you walked humbly in obedience. Amen to Ps.40:3 God bless you and your family!

Dear @SeanO

Thank you kindly for the words and the declaration over JC’s (his names are Jean Christopher, or JC) life. JC means ‘blessed and prestigious’, Jean means ‘a gift from God’ or ‘God is gracious’ and Christopher means ‘bearer of Christ’ or ‘carries Christ in his heart’. Thus, we declare that he is ‘A blessed and prestigious gift from a gracious God who carries Christ in his heart’. So your words tie in nicely :blush:

I am so grateful for what the Lord has done in my life! How, from a place of hopelessness and no light at the end of the tunnel, He turned what seemed like a curse into an incredible blessing! I cannot praise Him enough.

Thank you @cer7 and @Lakshmismehta

There’s always hope with God on our side; whatever the experts might say.

As believers, we also know that this life is not the end of us. Thus, even if we were to not survive here, the promise is yet to come.

The author of Hebrews writes in chapter 12 verse 2 “For the joy set before Him He endured the cross”. Jesus’ prayer in the garden of Gethsemane showed that the cross was not something the Christ was excited about, but He knew the promise, the joy, beyond the cross. We have a joy set before us too! By grace through faith! What a gift. With that focus in mind, it becomes easier to let our how trump our why and allow our trials to glorify God - whether we survive in this life or not, we will in the next.
