Public vs private Categories

RZIM Connect features both public and private Categories.

Examples of public Categories include:

Examples of private Categories are harder to provide, as they are not accessible to all members. One example would be the RZIM Academy alumni area. Content in these Categories is only available to the members or groups of members who have been granted access. These categories have a lock icon next to their name. The lock looks like this:

However, even in private Categories, please remember that any other member with access to that Category could, for example, take a screen shot of member discussions and share this content with a wider audience. We would strongly discourage this behavior but cannot prevent this activity.

Content shared in public Categories is often indexed by search engines, such as Google, so that others can find and benefit from the discussions in RZIM Connect. This is one reason we encourage on-topic, high-quality, respectful conversations in the Connect community.

If you are ever unsure if a Topic is public or private, simply log out of RZIM Connect. Then, browsing the site as an anonymous visitor, attempt to access that particular Topic. If the Topic is in one of the public Categories, you will be able to read it. If the Topic is in a private Category, you will not be able to access it.
