@mutts, a short answer to your question is that the Christian gospel is based on grace of God accomplished through the work of Jesus Christ on the cross which makes reincarnation and our karma unnecessary (Heb 10:18). Man needs to be born again by the Spirit of God in order to be made holy as opposed to being given multiple lives for good works (John 3:3-5). The Bible says man is born in sin alienated from God and so all our works / karma have the taint of sin ( Ps 51:5, Eph 4:18, Rom 3:23, Ps 49:7-8). It’s only by the holiness of the Spirit of God that we can will and act according to God’s holy purpose (Phil 2:13). Only the work of Jesus who was fully man and fully God, is an acceptable sacrifice for our sin as He alone is untouched by sin. When we receive Jesus, God promises to seal us with His Holy Spirit ( Eph 1:13). Then, the works that are built on the foundation of Jesus will survive judgement (1Cor 3:11) These are works that are done not to attain God’s favor but to display His grace in us ( Eph 2:8-9). The Bible has no support for reincarnation and karma and only supports the idea of one life.
Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment,
Are there any specific questions that you are dealing with about reincarnation? Are you asking to respond to a Christian or a Hindu? Attached are two other threads on this subject where we discussed this at length which have helpful thoughts for discussing with Hindus.
We have historical evidence about resurrection but not reincarnation and so we can firmly rest on the Bible.
Here’s a book that primarily discusses how Christianity is incompatible with Reincarnation. It deals with certain scriptures in the Bible that some people use to say that Christianity supports reincarnation.
