Hello Dr Thejus. Can you kindly give a reason for why there is ‘unfreedoms’ outside Jesus? What is freedom? What does it mean to be free? I know the experiential side of the truth but would appreciate an answer to it.
Hi Theja, I think there can be unfreedoms even if you are a follower of Jesus. Freedom is two-pronged; it is to live out your full potential and help others to live it out as well.
Guilt and self-pity are two very common ‘unfeedoms’ that come in the way of living out our faith.
Very simply put Jesus offers us freedom from guilt and renews our sense of responsibility. The nature of the cross leaves no room for self-pity. Instead, Jesus invites us to come and die and then rise up with him. This gives us a renewed sense of identity and meaning.
Whether you are a follower of Jesus or not, he makes us an offer we shouldn’t refuse. It is our responsibility to accept it and internalise it.
